The Sound Vault — Terms of Service (DRAFT — requires lawyer review before launch)
Last updated: July 2026 · soundvault.io · Operated by [ENTITY NAME, jurisdiction — TBD]
1. The service
The Sound Vault ("the Vault") identifies tracks in publicly available DJ sets. You paste a link to a set hosted on a third-party platform (e.g. SoundCloud, YouTube); we analyze its audio and publish the resulting tracklist (artists, titles, timestamps, links to stores and streaming services).
2. Audio handling — the important part
- We temporarily download audio solely to analyze it. Audio files are deleted immediately after analysis, including when analysis fails.
- We never store, host, stream, or redistribute audio. What we store is metadata: track names, timestamps, confidence scores, and links.
- You may only submit links to content that is publicly accessible. You are responsible for the links you submit.
3. Accounts and Keys
- Browsing the Vault is free and unlimited, no account needed.
- Unlocking new sets requires an account and spends Keys. Free accounts receive a monthly Keys allowance. Keys have no monetary value, are non-transferable and non-refundable, and reset monthly; unused Keys do not accumulate.
- Longer sets cost more Keys; the cost is always shown before you confirm an unlock.
- We may limit, suspend, or reclaim accounts that abuse the service (automation, scraping, circumvention of limits).
4. Tracklists and community content
- Tracklists generated by the Vault are published publicly on set pages and may be shared (e.g. receipt-card images).
- Automatic identification is best-effort; results may contain errors or gaps ("Unknowns"). We do not guarantee accuracy.
- Community contributions (e.g. proposed identifications) may be published, edited, or removed at our discretion. By contributing you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to display and distribute that contribution within the service.
5. Takedowns
Rights holders who believe a set page should not exist can write to legal@soundvault.io with the set URL and proof of rights. We will review promptly and remove pages where appropriate. Note we host tracklist metadata only, never audio.
6. Affiliate links
Some outbound links to stores are affiliate links: we may earn a commission on purchases at no extra cost to you. See the disclosure in the footer.
7. Acceptable use
No automated access (bots, scrapers) without written permission; no attempts to bypass Keys, rate limits, or the sample-unlock gate; no use of the service to infringe third-party rights.
8. Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided "as is", without warranties. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of USD 20 or the amount you paid us in the last 12 months (currently zero — the service is free).
9. Changes and termination
We may change these terms (material changes announced on the site with reasonable notice) and may discontinue the service. You may delete your account at any time.
10. Governing law
[Jurisdiction — TBD with lawyer: likely Mexico or US depending on entity.]
